I always think of cool now how Truman Capote uses it in Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
“It was a warm evening, nearly summer, and she wore a slim cool black dress, black sandals, a pearl choker. For all her chic thinness, she had an almost breakfast-cereal air of health, a soap and lemon cleanness, a rough pink darkening in the cheeks. Her mouth was large, her nose upturned. A pair of dark glasses blotted out her eyes. It was a face beyond childhood, yet this side of belonging to a woman. I thought her anywhere between sixteen and thirty; as it turned out, she was shy two months of her nineteenth birthday.”
Terrific imagery but also a slim cool black dress. Cool feels like a fresh breeze
loved this so much... made me think about (apologies for abiding by the cliche) the "cool girl" monologue from Gone Girl. Always has me questioning the legitimacy of the existence of the "cool girl" or whether it is just the illusive concept we ascribe to those which we do not know. Appreciate the analysis!!
I feel you DEEEEN! Especially on the cool thing--- it feels like a great compliment when not attached to me... but it can feel like an empty word.
Also something I really resonate with is the "you're so mysterious hahahah" thing... I, too, get this all the time, and I'm clearly not an introvert. And when I get it, I'm just like what do I need to be telling you for you to think otherwise. I think I just have such a cartoon face that people don't think I'm human lmao. "You're like a bug: "You're like the corpse bride." "I can't understand you."

I love this! Audrey also encapsulates it so well in the movie.
